Careers

Pupils told us that ‘education is the key to our futures’. They understand that working hard in school opens up pathways for them for their future careers. Pupils have high aspirations for themselves and each other.

At Madni Academy every student is encouraged to set their sights high for their future, regardless of their background or individual circumstances. In order to help them prepare for college, university and the world of employment, we provide regular careers guidance in school. This begins in the Early Years where children are taught about the jobs that people do in society.

Through our enrichment programme, we develop links with leading local employers in the professions, business, industry and the public, community and voluntary sectors. As well as addressing the students and answering their questions about what it’s like to work in their field, we look for exciting work experience and mentoring opportunities with them. We have established links with colleges and universities that coach our pupils and prepare them for life post 16, educating them in the choices available to them. Through the Careers Fair our pupils are able to educate themselves on suitable post 16 providers and courses available.

As part of their preparations for the world of work, students also participate in the Mini Tycoon programme. Here students have the opportunity to launch their own small businesses, and acquire skills of merchandising, marketing, sales and business organisation.

Pupils receive impartial careers advice in the secondary school. In the early years and the primary school, they begin to explore the range of careers available to them. A careers fair for pupils in key stage 4 attracts post-16 providers, universities and employers from across Yorkshire. Pupils say that this is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and find out more.
