Hadiths of the Month - November 2023

Hadith 1

Prophet SAW said, "The person nearest to Allah is one who is the first to offer greeting."

Targets

Try to be the first one to greet with salam.

Say salaam to your elders (before they say salaam to you).

Hadith 2

Prophet SAW said: “Supplicate Allah Almighty and be certain that He will answer your prayer” (Tirmidhi).

Targets

Make it a regular practice to raise your hands in prayer and ask from Allah.

Remember a believer’s prayer is always accepted. Be patient and steadfast.

Hadiths of the Month - October 2023

Hadith 1

The one who eats and is thankful is like the one who fasts and is patient (Tirmidhī)

Targets

  • Show thankfulness by reciting Bismillah before you eat.

  • End your meal by praising Allah, say Alhamdolillah.

Hadith 2

The Prophet SAW never found fault with food. If he had inclination to eating it, he would eat; and if he disliked it, he would leave it. (Al-Bukhari)

Targets

  • Do not criticize food.
  • Do not be wasteful, or extravagant in your food.

Hadiths of the Month - September 2023

Hadith 1

The Religion (Islam) is to act with sincerity (Muslim)

Target

  • Read salah for Allah alone.
  • Do a good deed for Allah alone.

Hadith 2

Gatherings are to be kept in confidence (Abū Dāwūd)

Target

  • Do not pass onto others what you hear or see in a meeting.
  • To not carry tales, especially if told in confidence.

Hadiths of the Month - July 2023

Hadith 1

The Prophet (SAW) said: "Whoever performs the Fajr (dawn prayer) in congregation, then sits to remember Allah until the sun rises, and then performs a two-Rak‘ah (unit of prayer) prayer, his reward will be equal to that of Hajj and ‘Umrah, completely, completely, completely." (At-Tirmithi)

Targets

  • You can also receive the reward of Hajj by reading two rakat of Ishraaq salat

Hadith 2

The Prophet SAW said, “Shall I tell you about the inhabitants of Paradise? They are all the modest persons.” (Bukhari)

  • Exercise modesty in your clothing.
  • Be modest in your spending (avoid being wasteful).

Hadiths of the Month - June 2023

Hadith 1

The Prophet SAW said, “Part of a person’s being a good Muslim is leaving alone that which does not concern him.” (Tirmidhi)

Targets

  • Try not to indulge in idle talk.
  • Avoid speaking/listening to backbiting.
  • Do not interfere in matters that are not of your concern.

Hadith 2

The Prophet (SAW) said “Whoever performs Hajj and does not commit any obscenity and wrongdoing, he, or she, will come out as the day he, or she, was born – pure and sinless.” (Bukhari)

  • Ask Allah to accept us for Hajj.
  • If you know anyone going for Hajj, as them to make dua for you.

Hadiths of the month- May 2023

Hadith 1

The Prophet SAW said, “Nothing befalls a believer, a (prick of a) thorn or more than that, But Allah will raise him one degree in status thereby, or erase a bad deed." (Bukhari)

Targets

  • Try to exercise patience in times of difficulty and stress.
  • Realise that our patience when facing difficulties raises our status in front of Allah and may lead to the forgiveness of our sins

Hadith 2

A man asked the prophet SAW “What deeds are best?” He replied, “(1) To perform the salat at its (early) stated fixed times. (2) To be good and dutiful to one’s own parents. (Bukhari)

  • Be grateful to your parents – seek their advice.
  • Speak in a gentle manner, using gentle words to your parents.

Hadiths of the Month - April 2023

Hadith 1

"There are in the month of Ramadan in every day and night those to whom Allah grants freedom from the Fire, and there is for every Muslim an supplication which he can make and will be granted." (Ahmed)

Targets

  • Raise your hands and make dua (supplication) to Allah as often as you can.
  • Make dua at the time of suhoor and Iftar.

Hadith 2

"The Prophet SAW, said, "Whoever stands (in prayer) in Laylatu'l-Qadr out of Iman and seeking reward then his previous sins are forgiven." (Bukhari)

Targets

Seek Laylatu’l Qadr in the last 10 nights

Recite the supplication of Aishah RA when seeking Laylatu’l Qadr which is, "O Allah you are the one who pardons greatly, and loves to pardon, so pardon me." (At-Tirmidhi)

Hadiths of the month - March 2023

1. The Prophet SAW said, “Truthfulness leads to righteousness and righteousness leads to Paradise. And a man keeps telling the truth until he becomes a truthful person.” (Bukhari)

Target

  • Be truthful- do not be tempted to lie out of fear!

  • Be trustworthy like the Prophet SAW. Fulfil that which is expected and promised from you.

2."He who fasts Ramadan, due to iman and hoping for reward (from Allah) then his past sins are forgiven."

Al-Bukhari and Muslim

Target

  • Fast every day of Ramadhan with the hope of gaining reward from Allah.

  • Increase your recitation of the Quraan, and remembrance of Allah (azkaar)

Hadiths of the month - February 2023

 1.“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest” (Qur’an, 13:28)

Target 

  • Whichever emotion is troubling your heart – anxiety, jealousy, stress, indecision, anger, discontentment, worry, sadness, fear, hurt, grief – remembering Allah through dhikr, du’a, contemplation, or prayer will help to alleviate it.

2. “He who has in his heart an ant’s weight of arrogance will not enter Jannah.” (Muslim)

Target

  • Be humble like our Prophet, arrogance is from Shaitan.

  • Be thankful for what we have been given by Allah, and help those in need.

Targets

  • Be mindful of what you say.

  • Use words to help- not harm -another person.

  • Tell your parents how much you appreciate them and all they do!

2.“The backbiter will not enter Paradise.”[Bukhari]

Targets

  • Avoid saying anything about others that may cause them hurt or offense.

  • Backbiting breaks friendships and causes pain- avoid it by being positive.

1. “If anyone fulfils his brother’s needs, Allah will fulfil his needs; if one relieves a Muslim of his troubles, Allah will relieve his troubles on the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari)

Targets

  • Try to help others the best you can.
  • Be ready to help others, especially your parents and other elders around you.

2. Rasullullah SAW said: “He is not one of us who does not have mercy upon our young, respect our elders, and commands good and forbids evil.”  (Tirmidhi)

Targets

  • Be kind and merciful when dealing with siblings and students younger than you.
  • Be respectful to your elders including parents and teachers.

Hadiths of the month - November 2022

1. There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) health and free time for doing good.” (Bukhari)

Targets

  • Do more good deeds whilst you have your health.
  • Read a portion of the Qur’aan daily.
  • Make your free time productive – spend less time on social media- help your parents or catch up on school work instead!

2. Do not become angry. (Bukhari

Targets

  • Anger is from Shaitan, so avoid it by seeking refuge in Allah.
  • If someone says something offensive to you, it is best to say silent then reciprocate with similar words.

Hadith of the month - October 2022

Rasullullah SAW said, “If a Muslim plants a tree or sows seeds, and then a bird, or a person or an animal eats from it, it is regarded as a charitable gift (sadaqah) for him.” (Bukhari)

Targets

  • Give sadaqah daily –Subhanallah, Alhamdolillah, Allahu Akbar are all sadaqah.
  • Do something to benefit or help somebody else.

Truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. (Bukhari)

Targets

  • Speak the truth in all circumstances.
  • Do not tell a lie, even as a joke.

Hadith of the month- September 2022

"I asked Allah’s messenger which deed was the best.” He replied: “The prayer at its appointed hour.” (Muslim)I asked Allah’s messenger which deed was the best.” He replied: “The prayer at its appointed hour.” (Muslim)

Targets

  • Be regular in reading the 5 times daily salah
  • Read salah at the beginning time.
  • Read salah with full humility and concentration.

Hadiths of the month - June 2022

Hadith 1

Aaishah RA say the prophet SAW ‘would do household chores’ i.e serve his family.  (Al-Bukhari)

Targets

Help parents at eating time.

Keep our bedroom tidy and be responsible for our items around the house.

Hadith 2

The Prophet SAW said: “The place of prayer (salah) in Islam is like the place of the head in the body.”

Targets

Be punctual with 5 daily salah.

To read salah at the beginning time.

To learn the fardh acts of salat.

Hadiths of the month - May 2022

Hadith 1

The Prophet (PBUH) prohibited that a man should drink while standing. (Qatadah said:) So it was said: “And eating?” He (Anas) said: “That is worse.” (Tirmidhi)

Targets

Eat whilst sitting.

Drink whilst sitting.

To eat and drink according to the sunnah manner

Hadith 2

The Prophet SAW said, “The  heart in which there is no portion of the Quran is like a deserted house”
(Tirmidhi)

Targets

Memorise ayats/surats of the Quran.

To recite the Quran daily and also to encourage others.

Hadiths of the month - April 2022

Hadith 1

Prophet SAW said, "When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained."        (Al-Bukhari)

Targets

Make the most of Ramadhan by increasing in the worship of Allah.

Read Quran every day; aim to complete a full reading at least  once this Ramadhan.

Hadith 2

The Prophet SAW said, , "Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven; and whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven." (Al-Bukhari)

Targets

Seek Laylatul Qadr in the last 10 nights of Ramadhan.

Increase Ibaadah during these last 10 nights.

Hadiths of the month - March 2022

Hadith 1

It is not permissible for a Muslim to frighten another Muslim. (Tirmidhi)

Targets

Don’t frighten another person either through actions or words.

To think before we act.

Hadith 2

Prophet SAW said, "When Ramadan begins, the gates of Paradise are opened."

(Al-Bukhari)

Targets

Start preparing mentally, physically and spiritually for Ramadhan.

Leave habits which will be displeasing to Allah.

Hadiths of the month - February 2022

Hadith 1

Whoso gives up dispute while he has right (to it), there is built for him a mansion in the middle of Jannat; and whoso makes his conduct good, there is built for him a mansion in its loftiest part. (Tirmidhi)

Targets

Find an opportunity in your life where we  give in graciously when involved in an argument.

Always display good manners towards others.

Hadith 2

Modesty is a branch of faith. (Muslim)

Targets

To dress in an Islamic manner and to be modest in our dress.

Hadiths of the month - January 2022

Hadith 1

Whoever wishes that Allah would respond to him during hardship and grief, then let him supplicate plentifully when at ease.”  (Tirmidhi)

Targets

Raise hands and make dua after every salah.

Make dua for ourselves, our families and the ummah –pray  for goodness in both worlds

Hadith 2

He is not of us who shows no mercy to our little ones and he does not honour our elders. (Tirmidhi)

Targets

To help and respect our parents, teachers and those older than us.

Be kind to those younger than us.

The key to Paradise is Salaah and the key to Salaah is Tahaarah (Cleanliness). (Miskhat)

Abdullah bin Mas'ud RA narrated: "Allah has not created in the heavens nor in the earth what is more magnificent than Ayat Al-Kursi." Sufyan RA said: "Because Ayat Al-Kursi is the Speech of Allah, and Allah's Speech is greater than Allah's creation of the heavens and the earth." (Tirmidhi)

The Value of Time

The Prophet has said,

Take advantage of five conditions before five others: youth before age, good health before illness, prosperity before poverty, free time before becoming occupied, and life before death. (Tirmidhi, Mustadark).
