Year 8 Visit to Mount Sinai Synagogue in Leeds

Tuesday 14th November, 2017

Thank you to the Mount Sinai Synagogue, in Leeds, for hosting our year 8 students at the synagogue during Interfaith Week. The students learnt about Judaism, the similarities and differences between the Abrahamic traditions and were able to see a Torah scroll during the visit.

The girls were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the interactive sessions as it complemented their learning in RS and broadened their experience and understanding on another faith group.

Thank you in particular to Carol Adams - who led the sessions - and her assistant Jane. Following on from the visit Carol messaged the school saying “…It was lovely to meet you all this morning and offer your girls a little knowledge about Judaism. Both Jane and I found them to be delightful… I hope that we may meet again in the future.”

INTERFAITH WEEK starts Sunday 12-19 November 2017

IN A MESSAGE ABOUT THE WEEK, PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY SAID:

Inter Faith Week is an excellent opportunity to celebrate the incredible diversity and richness of faith communities in Britain. It is also a chance for people of all faiths to come together and to highlight the invaluable contribution they collectively make to their neighbourhoods and to wider society.

The Rt Hon Theresa May MP, Prime Minister

COMMUNITIES SECRETARY, SAJID JAVID MP SAYS:

Inter Faith Week is all about bringing people together to help improve understanding of different faiths and share what we have in common. I hope lots of people will get involved and celebrate the different faiths that make up British life.

The Rt Hon Sajid Javid MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government

At the end of the visit the ladies running the sessions at the synagogue were gushing about our students outstanding  behaviour. They not only praised their exemplary behaviour but told the girls how nice it was to see 'such beautiful smiling faces'. They also welcomed us back to the synagogue for any visits we wanted to schedule.  We are very proud of year 8- well done !!
