Early Years Library Visit

During the first half term we visited the local Dewsbury Library. This was a great opportunity for children to explore their love of reading and begin to under- stand how books are read. Reading is a great way for children to expand their imagination and begin to tactically think in understanding the world. It helps them develop language and listening skills and prepares them to understand the written world. In the library children have fun and learn to discover books which appeal to them.

We went through the different types of books that can be found at the library such as fiction, non-fiction, dictionaries, encyclopedias and picture books. Each child selected a book of their own choice and brought it back to school to read at story time, and they all sat nicely at the carpet to listen to a story at the library.
