Self-Assurance and Self -Belief Workshop

Year 10 and Year 11 girls received a visit from Mrs Na’ima B. Robert; a well-known author of multicultural literature and founding editor of the UK-based Muslim women's publication: SISTERS Magazine. Sister Na’ima has written prose and poetry for adults; young adult fiction; and picture books with Muslim themes for younger children. Sister Na’ima’s books have been recognised as Islamic fiction amongst Muslims, and to date, she has published thirteen picture books for children and teenagers in up to 31 languages.

With such a prestigious background, Madni Academy were delighted to welcome Sister Naima Sister to deliver a workshop for our older students on ‘Self-assurance and Self-belief’. The key aim of the workshop was to strengthen students’ confidence and self-belief. During the workshop she taught them to honour their minds, bodies and Imaan, and most of all, how to take care of themselves mentally, physically and spiritually.

The students found the workshop useful and described it as a “thoroughly enjoyable experience”. She spoke openly to the girls about her dreams and aspirations, the motivation to pursue a career in writing and her experiences related to both. Sister Na’ima further inspired the girls by sharing details of her background and related the journey she undertook as she reverted to Islam.

Sister Na’ima gave encouragement to the students to believe in themselves and answered questions from them. The girls left the workshop feeling strengthened and motivated, and Inshallah, we look forward to seeing Sister Naima for the second workshop in this series!

A huge JazakALLAH to sister Na'ima for her inspirational talk.
